It appears that after nearly two years of talk (and little else), cult create-a-racer Trackmania is finally making its way onto the Nintendo Wii.

It's been announced that Firebrand Games - the team behind the recent Trackmania DS - are on development duties, with the game set to make a public appearance at Germany's big Gamescom 09 show next week.

The Wii Remote should be a handy tool when it comes to the series' trademark course creation; let's just hope there's no wacky motion-controlled steering schemes to go along with it.

Course creation seems pretty cool. Not a huge fan of racing games with this style though, I prefer free-roamers (like Need for Speed).

I wanted to buy this for the PC when it came out, probably going on the list of wants on the Wii.

I didn't like the DS version enough to warrant a wii purchase. Strict time trials just aren't as fun as actually racing. Course creation is definitely cool though.

Is it me or am I the only person that wants Gran Turismo on Wii?

I don't' think I've played a GT game really. I think it goes towards more realism and less arcade type racing from my understanding. I think I prefer arcade over realism. I'm curious how it would sell on wii compared to PS360 though.

I like the professional sort of feel to GT, but I like my arcade type racing also Smiley

^Nice. I actually think I'll be getting this. Just the game, no bundle.

Is there a link for that?
